2012 - Dog Shows in Review

2012 Summary of Dog Show Accomplishments

February - Georgia wins a 4 point major at the Heart of Texas Great Dane club specialty
and I handle young Champion Jack the Great Dane for the first time the next day.

March - Champion Jack and I are a team again in Fort Worth for four shows, and I help Kari Smith by taking harlequin Great Dane puppy Ariel into her class of 4, which she won.

April - Georgia wins her last single and now only needs a three point major to become a champion.

May - Georgia wins a 5 point major to become a new champion. Out of 8 times Georgia was Winners, she was also Best of Winners 5 times, and Best of Opposite 3 times! She had two 2 point wins, four 1 point wins, a 4 point win, and a 5 point win. Her first points were almost a year after the first time she was shown, and her final major was a year after the first points. All owner handled!

June - Champion Georgia wins a major towards her Grand Championship and two singles. Champion Jack and I hit the ring together for four more shows.

July - at the shows in San Antonio I had the pleasure of showing a Xolo (they are so much fun!) and Benni the Great Dane to a 3 point major in very tough competition! I met Benni that weekend so we only had three days together, but after her major, she needed 1 single to finish and she earned that in October.

August - Champion Georgia wins 5 majors over one weekend, four 4 point Selects and one 5 point Best of Breed over 8 specials, two of which were top 20 ranked, to become a new Grand Champion!!! It was THRILLING! She was an amazing show dog that day.

September - We travel to the Ibizan Hound National Specialty in Gray Summit, MO to pick up our new Ibizan puppy, Bettie, and while there,  Georgia wins Best of Opposite one day and Select the next, both are major wins.
Later in September, Grand Champion Georgia wins two additional Selects, and I get to handle Jeri the harlequin Great Dane puppy for her first shows!
Kisses the cat turns 15 years old!

October - Champion Jack and I hit the ring together a total of 4 times and he wins Select each time. He became a new Grand Champion on the last day he was scheduled to show before we traveled to the GDCA National Specialty together, and just a few days after he turned 2 years of age.
Kobi the mantle Great Dane and I were a first time team and he did great. Jeri also won 2nd in her class both days she showed.
At a puppy match, I showed Bettie my new Ibizan for the first time, and took her brother Walker to the puppy match hound group, where he won 3rd.  I also got to show a lovely Saluki!
At the National, I showed Kobi, who won 2nd of his class, Jeri, who won 2nd in her class, Vita, who showed better than ever in the veteran's class, Grand Champion Georgia, who looked amazing, and Grand Champion Jack, who was very much on!
Chili the Min Pin turns 14 years old!

November - Young Grand Champion Jack goes Best of Breed over a top 20 ranked special! The same day, at a puppy match, Bettie wins the Hound group and comes VERY close to winning Best Puppy in Match!

The next weekend, Grand Champion Georgia wins Best of Opposite one day and Best of Breed the next! At the puppy match that weekend, Bettie and Walker went head to head again and Walker and I go on to get 2nd in the puppy match Hound Group! I also had the pleasure of showing 1 year old Rhett the Smooth Collie in the Herding Group, where he got a long look from the judge.

The weekend after that (still in November) Grand Champion Georgia wins two Best of Opposites, and Kobi wins a MAJOR! It was my fourth time in the ring with Kobi, and he now only needs one major and one single (or a 4 point major) to become a new champion! My friend Suzanne Sparrow was so kind to take Kobi into Best of Breed for me while I showed Georgia. This same weekend I showed Justin the Brittany to two Best of Breed wins!

The weekend after Thanksgiving, Grand Champion Jack wins back to back Select Dog in Alvarado, and Walker, Bettie's brother, guided by me, goes on to win Best in Match over lots of very nice puppy competition. Georgia turns 3 years old.

December - In Dallas, on the one day we showed, Grand Champion Georgia wins Select and Jeri wins 2nd in a class of 5 puppies. In Orlando, Georgia wins Select one day, defeating a Best in Specialty winning, Top 20 ranked bitch. Nine month old Jeri wins her first reserve and gets a great win photo out of it! She’s going to hang out at home and grow up for a few months. Greater Swiss Mountain Dog Evie and I go into the ring together twice while we're in Orlando and she earned one reserve win.  Georgia retires (for now), and Vita turns 7!
