GDAB Great Danes & Ibizan Hounds

January 5 - I showed Great Dane Champion Cate (Ch. Larchwood Montague Tempting Pleasure) for the first time in Glen Rose. She wins Select for a 3 point Major towards her Grand Champion title (her first points). Judge was Mr Dennis Morgan.  Cate is owned by Nancy Ridgway, Susan O'Brien, and Karen & Dave Lozenski.  

While I was waiting for Best of Breed to start, I took Great Dane puppy Nola, Southern Star New Orleans Lady, owned by David and Sonya Moore, in for winners since her usual handler had another to show.  She did great but no win for her that day.

January 6 – Champion Cate goes Best of Opposite for another 3 point major towards her Grand, and defeats competition, with judge  Mr Ralph J (Sonny) Ambrosio.

January 26 - For her very first show, my Ibizan Hound Bettie is Best of Winners and Best Puppy in Alexandria, LA, under judge Dr. Eric Liebes! No points though because she and Brother Walker are the only two entered except for a special.

I also showed Great Dane Kobi, BOULDERVIEW'S KOBAYASHI MARU, owned by Kim and Kevin Moore.

To help out my friend Steve Hill, I took his bred by Great Dane GiGi, CHALLENGER'S GEISHE GIRL V LAMAR, in for winners.She won a 4 point major under Mr William Cunningham!  Gigi is owned by Steaphen Hill, Rick McGaugh, and Margo Gaither.

January 27 – I showed Kobi and Gigi again.  Gigi was reserve to the major.  Nola and I went back in together for Best of Breed after she was winners.  Bettie and Walker showed again, Walker was BOW, and BOS, no points available.  Judge Mr William Cunningham.

March 2 & 3 - Bettie is Reserve winners both days in Wichita Falls, while her brother Walker wins his first point at the same shows. Our judges were Sheila Smith and Judy Webb.  Walker was WD both days but BOW only under Sheila Smith (no other male competition).

Cate wins Select both days for 2 Singles, over competition, under Mr Robin L Stansell and Mrs Cindy Stansell.  She now has 8 points.

March 13 - Bettie graduated puppy agility by running her first agility course, and she did very well!

March 22 – Great Dane Club of Greater Dallas specialties – For both specialties, I showed Dakota, CALYPSO'S GET ME OUTTA DODGE, and Champion Cate.  

March 23 - Our friend Rudy Ayala takes Bettie (and her brother Walker) into the ring while I was busy showing Great Danes.  Bettie had a great positive experience with Rudy and Walker won a major reserve!  The judge was Mrs Donnelle Richards. 

I showed Great Dane puppy Luke in Sweeps, and he won best in sweeps with judge Kathleen Davis!  Luke is LARCHWOOD MONTAGUE TEMPTING FATE. Owned by Nancy Ridgway, D.S. O'Brien, and Karen & David Lozensk.

I also showed Great Dane Jeri, ROSEMOOREDANES SEVEN OF NINE, in Sweeps, her first time out since December.  She won her class.

Luke, Jeri, and Cate were up again with me in the regular classes.  They all did great!!  Luke won his class, Jeri won her class, and Cate made the cut in Best of Breed.  She got a hard look from judge Ms Betty Regina Leininger!  It was exciting.

March 24 - Bettie wins Best of Winners for her first points, a MAJOR, at the Fort Worth Kennel Club show, under judge Sidney Marx!!  Brother Walker is Winners Dog for 2 more points!  Bettie and Walker now have 3 points each.

Great Dane Rose went in with me for Winners to assist Steve Hill.  She is SOUTHERN STAR YELLOW ROSE OF TEXAS, owned by David and Sonya Moore.

March 30 - In Claremore, Oklahoma, Bettie is Best of Winners again for her 2nd major, under judge Jon Cole! She now has 6 points!

Jeri won her class, with judge Nancy Simmons.

March 31 - At the Claremore Kennel Club of Oklahoma's second show, Bettie wins Best of Winners AGAIN, for her 3rd major!  Brother Walker was Winners too, for a single.  Our judge was Pete Dawkins.  Bettie now has 9 points, all majors, and Walker has 4 points, all from the 6 to 9 puppy class.

Jeri showed to judge Jan Paulk, and she won reserve.

May 11 – In Denton, Jeri wins Best of Winners for her first points (2) under judge Nelson Huber.  Best of Winners for Bettie, too, but no points (no competition other than her brother Walker, Judge Murrel Purkhiser.

May 12 - Winners again on Jeri, for point #3, judge Alane Gomez.     

Winners for Bettie again too, but no competition except a special, with judge Eugene Blake.

May 19 - Abilene - WB (no point) on Bettie, judge Dana Cline.  Jeri wins her class.

May 24 - Tulsa –  RWB on Bettie, BOW on Walker – 2 points – Robert L Boothe

May 25 - BOW on Bettie, 1 point, Eugene Blake, RWD on Walker.   Jeri wins her class with judge Espen Engh.

May 26 - BOW on Bettie, Dana Cline, 4 point major, major #4.  1 single needed to finish. RWD on Walker.  I helped another handler today by taking in a Basenji for Best of Breed!  Fun!

May 27 - WD on Walker – 1 point, RWB on Bettie - Mr Jerry M Watson - Jeri won her class, judge Sophia Kaluzniacki.

June 19 - OKC – Great Dane Lexie, Calypso's Wanna be a Lexus, owned by Ash-Leah and Devin Turk – 4 point major, first time I showed her – judge James Reynolds.  Bettie showed too, but again, her only competition was the special, so she was Winners with no point.  Judge Kimberly Meredith-Cavanna.

June 20 - For Bettie, same as the day before, with judge Pamela Bruce.  For Lexie, she won her class under Pat Hastings.

June 21 - Same story again for Bettie, judge Raymond V Filburn Jr.  For Lexie, she won her class under judge Jay Richardson.

June 22 - Same again for poor Bettie, no competition, but she was Best Puppy so she got a little prize.  Judge Bill Shelton.  Lexie was 2nd in her class, under the same judge.  Later, at the Great Dane Club of Oklahoma specialty, under judge Paula Nykiel, Lexie won her class and made the cut for winners but lost out to another nice girl.

June 23 - A repeat for Bettie, but she showed very well after a week of practice.  Judge was James Reynolds.  Miss Lexie wins a 5 point major, and Best Of Winners, to become a new champion!!!!!! She was amazing! Thanks to judge Charlotte McGowan for a very nice win.               

July 5 - After all the great practice in Oklahoma City, Bettie goes Best of Winners in Dallas under judge Joan Goldstein for her final single to become a new champion!!!! Brother Walker was Reserve.

This was Great Dane puppy Tasha’s first show and she did great for just turning 6 months old!  Tasha is Davisdanes Everything is just Ducky at Rosemoore, owned by Kim Moore and Susan Shaw.  She was 3rd in her class under judge Clay Coady.  Jeri was also 3rd in the 12 - 18 class.  

July 6 - Busy and fun day at the dog show in Dallas. Reserve for Walker the Ibizan (to his brother Freddie). New champion Bettie went Best Opposite (also to her brother Freddie) over a top special for her first Grand Champion point under judge William Usherwood. In Danes, baby Tasha won 2nd out of her class of 4 in sweepstakes (judge Valerie Metcalf) and she showed great! In regular classes both Tasha and Jeri won 3rd in their classes (great competition in both) with judge Cindy Meyer. Cate wrapped things up by adding another major to her Grand Champion points by winning Select in a nice line up of specials! She now has 12 Grand Points (her mom Nancy put one on her in April). I also helped out another handler by taking in an Irish Wolfhound special.

July 7 - Tasha and Jeri did well today but Cate was the big winner with another Grand Champion major over competition, putting her at 15 points!!  Our judge was Judith V. Daniels.  Walker was reserve again in Ibizans and Bettie was Select, with judge Jon Cole.  I helped out another handler today by taking in a Neapolitan Mastiff! 

July 27 & 28 - In Longview, Jeri, Vita (Best Veteran), Bettie (Select x 2).  Helped out another handler by taking in a Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppy!

August 10 & 11 - Littlerock, Jeri, Bettie

September 13, 14, 15 - Gray Summit, Bettie, Georgia (Select)

October 12 & 13 - Canton, Jeri (RWB), Georgia (BOS x 2), Bettie (BOB x 2)

November - Humble - Two Best of Breed wins for Bettie, two singles on Nyx the Dane (first time I showed her).

December - Dallas - Iced out!
